The past weeks have been very challenging for many people across the country. Bushfires have caused devastation across Australia, threatening lives, wildlife, homes and communities. It is heartbreaking to see these tragedies continue to unfold across the nation. It has also shown the courage and generosity of people and how they respond in challenging times.

At IOOF, we are committed to doing whatever we can to support our people, clients and communities impacted by the fires.

Help for affected clients

We have adjusted some of our processes for clients affected by the bushfire crisis who are eligible for early access to their super funds. Relaxing some steps in the financial hardship claim process gives these clients quicker and easier access to their super funds, allowing them to get on with rebuilding their lives.

Help for affected communities

IOOF Foundation Disaster Recovery Appeal

The IOOF Foundation Disaster Recovery Appeal has been set up to provide grants to help Australian communities recovering from natural disasters. Together, IOOF Holdings and the IOOF Foundation have committed to contributing an initial amount of $100,000 to the IOOF Foundation Disaster Recovery Appeal. All donations to this appeal will go directly towards helping emergency services and people, communities and wildlife affected by the bushfires and other natural disasters.

Overall in 2020, the IOOF Foundation will distribute $1,000,000 to Australian community groups. The support for disaster recovery will continue beyond 2020 as communities are rebuilt, tourism returns and economies are renewed.

Support for employees who volunteer during emergencies

To support communities during emergencies, IOOF are providing crisis leave if an employee is a member of a volunteer organisation such as the Rural Fire Service (RFS), Country Fire Authority (CFA) or State Emergency Service (SES) and are called to assist during a declared emergency.

Support for community volunteers

To acknowledge the need for volunteers in a range of areas, we are now offering our employees the opportunity to increase their volunteer leave to any charitable organisation from the current one day to two days each year.

We understand the road to recovery is long and we will continue to build our support.
